still here...

hello blog, i've missed you. i promise i haven't forgotten about you.

the thing is i've been having to type one handed lately (other arm is holding a really cute baby). oh, and this computer is getting slower and slower so if i type too fast it just skips letters and ends up a bunch of abbreviations.

apparently santa is bringing me a new computer this year so with the lightning fast speed(relatively speaking) at which it will run i should be able to do my one handed typing much more efficiently.

in the mean time i promise to do some worthwhile updating soon. stay tuned for me picking up where i left off last year on my countdown of my twelve favorite christmas ornaments on my tree. lucky you!

oh, and congrats to katie b- the newest mom-to-be i know! she also happens to be a GREAT blogger which turns out is just one of her many talents. if her baby smiles just half as often as she does, baby becker may surpass rex for the happiest baby ever (i know, incredible!)

Rex the road tripper

So it turns out, no surprise, that Rex is a great traveling companion. Apart from the few squawks ("Get me OUT of my carseat") and occasional (ok frequent) spitup on my shirt/pants/foot he's been a champ all the way down the eastern sierras, thru Death Valley and into Vegas (although he did get his dad kicked out of the Bellagio - apparently it is poor parenting to play a slot machine while holding a 7 week old infant.) He's charmed his great-great Aunt and Uncle and Cousin in Arizona. He's now seen the Grand Canyon (Grand!) and the site of the Lincoln County Wars (underwhelming, boo). He too made it thru Roswell without an alien encounter (our hot-air balloon barking dog standing watch for similar flying objects.)

We're now rapidly approaching the Texas border where he can get his first lesson in Texan pride (we'll consider these next few weeks an immersion course in Texas honorary-citizenship.)

Knowing how this trip could very well have been a disaster (imagine the Kilbride parents, baby, and dog abandoning Tyrone the Trailblazer at the closest airport and catching flight home without batting an eye) we're excited to arrive in Houston tomorrow relatively unscathed and with a whole carload of memories :)

P.S. Ruby the Dog has passed her traveling test too ultimately toileting on non-grass after holding out all day in Arizona which for obvious reasons is a no-lawn state.
P.P.S. New favorite town found here- must go back!!!
